From Denver, Colorado, go West on Interstate 70 towards Grand Junction; take exit 232 to US Highway 40 West; then take US Highway 34 East. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September. No trailhead marking. No single species was dominant, but many species were abundant. The northern end of the lake was less diverse. Less abundant species in the southern part of the lake were Nuphar odorata, Elodea nuttallii, Nymphoides cordata, Ceratophyllum echinatum, Vallisneria americana, Potamogeton amplifolius and Potamogeton robbinsii. It was snow-packed and slippery on the steep parts but well worth the effort. Residents in this area are members of a lake association that prohibits public use of the lake but permits boating, including use of boats with motors. Very peaceful. Stream along the way. A good solid bit of uphill gets the heart going, but the lake is spectacular and totally worth it.

Nymphaea odorata was most abundant in shallow water along the edges. According to the population finder off the Census Bureau's website, in 2009, the town had a total population of 1,663. Lake Granby is the first lake you'll see after traveling from the Winter Park area toward the town of Grand Lake; it's about a 25 minute drive. Beautiful hike in the woods with amazing view at the end. Manitook Lake is naturally fed by a stream that enters at the north end after running through an active sand and gravel pit. Beautiful lake at the end. Not nearly as bad as some other trails. We had the trail to ourselves the entire hike. 6/Forest Rd.

Find Common Plant Names Much of the middle of the lake was too deep to sample. Access other maps for various points of interests and businesses. Be warned, the trail is not marked in anyway. From Cheyenne, Wyoming, go south on Interstate 25 towards Denver to exit 257B; go west on US Highway 34. Kids will like the stream crossings and the lake at the end is pretty.
I’ve done this trail several times. Wifi. There are other hikes in the area that I like more. The first mile is hardest part, a good amount of elevation gain in a short time.
Plenty of seating just to relax and enjoy the view of the lake and the mountains surrounding the lake.
